The number of cranes in city skylines is at a near-record high as confidence has returned to developers.
The RLB Crane Index soared to 204 in Q1 2024, with 869 cranes in the air including 540 for residential and 329 for commercial projects.
According to Ray White, the surge signals growing confidence in construction nationwide, particularly in residential and mixed-use projects.
Greater Sydney saw the biggest number with 402 cranes, on the back of strong population growth.
Despite a net decrease over six months, Greater Sydney still commands 46.3% of all crane activity in Australia.
